Some of my writing and projects don’t fit in a specific category. So below is a list of other published work, my master’s thesis, presentations, and my podcast.

Chicken Soup for the Soul – Teens Talk High School

Published in 2008, this book is part of the popular “Chicken Soup” series.  My piece is called Library Sanctuary, and begins:

I’m sitting alone on the steps eating cold pizza from my brown paper sack.  Actually I’m not entirely alone. If someone were to look at the group os students on the steps it would appear that I was sitting at the side of the pack. But the truth is that I really don’t know these girls that well; I only wish I did. And it’s not as if I’m new to this school, although I often feel like that’s the case. No, I’ve known these girls for almost ten years and yet I feel like I can’t talk to them.

10 Tips for Young Professionals About the Real World

The first piece I ever published was in the Wall Street Journal’s career section, called Career Journal:

I worked in Hollywood for 10 years as an assistant to studio executives as well as "talent." I've seen a lot, and all kinds of people. As I'm sure most can imagine, the film industry attracts some very odd types. I've also been on the hiring side of the desk, and it's astounding what some people will say and wear at the office. Here is my advice to 20-somethings about the "real" work world:

Master’s Thesis: Deconstructing a Cultural Icon: A Case Study of Gwen Stefani

I have a Master’s Degree in Media Studies from Syracuse University.  For my thesis, I wrote a case study of the pop star Gwen Stefani.  Why was she so popular? What makes her an icon and what does that mean in this society?

As theses go, this was a fun one to write. And I’m proud of the fact that my writing a thesis on a pop culture figure helped bring in new students to the Media Studies program. (“If someone is writing their thesis on Gwen Stefani, then that’s a school I want to go to.”)

I’d say download it here, but it’s over 100 pages. If you’re dying to read it, I’m happy to send it.

Podcast- ShowbizSandbox.com

A labor of love, ShowbizSandbox.com is a weekly podcast featuring industry journalists J. Sperling Reich, Michael Giltz, and me discussing and debating the latest entertainment headlines. Not only do I participate in this, but I also write the copy on the site, and contribute in marketing the site via social media.
